Today’s seniors are living longer, more active lives and we are here to make sure they live those to the fullest! TASH Wellness provides education and fitness programs designed with seniors in mind to help them live comfortably. The FAS professionals at TASH have created a curriculum with exercises that help with issues seniors face daily. All our sessions are designed using the 6 foundations of Physical Function seen below

Many gyms and fitness centers offer a program for seniors called “Silver Sneakers.” Before you join this free program, we want you to be aware of the differences between Silver Sneakers and the TASH Wellness program.

TASH WELLNESS

  • All members are screened through standardized testing to determine areas of concern, physical limitations and current fitness level.
  • Progressions and regressions are made during the workouts to a different fitness level depending upon the quality of the movement they are performing.
  • Programs are made based on Functional Aging Institute guidelines.

SILVER SNEAKERS/OTHER PROGRAMS

  • No screening is done to determine areas of concern, physical limitation or their current fitness level.
  • No progressions are made during the workout.
  • Programs are based on outdated protocol. Insurance companies are seeking a better solution from the wellness community.

TASH WELLNESS FOR WOMEN

The TASH Wellness senior program is designed for adults 55+ who want to stay active, live with independence, and keep healthy for the long haul. It is designed to increase mental alertness, cognitive function, balance, core strength, power and agility! Even if you have had previous injuries or surgeries, our Functional Aging Specialists can work with you.

Fall Prevention

No one likes falling, and it’s especially scary for seniors. TASH Wellness can minimize the risk of falling through a training program that focuses on flexibility, stability, balance, and strength and coordination. We will also educate our seniors through a fall prevention program.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • 1.5 million falls occur per year (and these are just reported falls)
  • 80% of falls go unreported
  • Over age 65, fall risk per year is 33%
  • Over age 85, fall risk is 50%
  • Risk of falling increases 300% in the year after a fall

Balance Training

Balance is something that we don’t all utilize in the age of desks and TV binging. Working on balance is something that should be practiced and worked on as soon as we can walk and continue throughout our entire lives. Balance training at TASH Wellness is a key component to our Senior Fitness Program and we incorporate balance training in every session.

These are only some of the daily activities that require balance:

  • Getting up and down stairs
  • Getting in and out of a bath tub
  • Getting in and out of a car
  • Walking
  • Reaching for something on your toes

Cognitive Function

An active brain is the key to preventing cognitive decline. The brain is a muscle that needs to be worked every day. If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it. Brain function will also improve with exercise.

Nutrition, diet, and pharmaceuticals (prescription and non) influence the brain's function. We recommend being tested by a physician for certain cognitive deficiencies if you believe cognitive function may be an issue.


As Brain Health Trainers, TASH adds cognitive training to all it’s sessions and most of the time our members don’t even realize they are working on it.
